Casting large-scale drying equipment "China Core"

The National Drying Technology and Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center, established by the Tianhua Chemical Machinery and Automation Research and Design Institute, has been actively advancing engineering and technology development since its official approval by the Ministry of Science and Technology in November of last year. Leveraging major national projects, the center has made significant progress in the localization of drying technology and equipment. Notably, the coke oven coal moisture control device for the iron and steel industry, as well as the one-million-ton PTA (purified terephthalic acid) drying technology and equipment for the petrochemical industry, have reached advanced international standards. Following the successful implementation of the PTA dryer developed by the National Drying Center at Sinopec Luoyang Branch’s 325,000 tons/year PTA plant, the center continued to explore the theoretical foundations of CTA/PTA (crude terephthalic acid/p-terephthalic acid) drying. Through industrial testing, validation, and model improvement, the team gained mastery over key technologies in the design of CTA/PTA drying processes and equipment. In 2007, the center delivered a 600,000-ton/year CTA/PTA dryer for Jialong Chemical Fiber Corporation. In February 2008, the center secured a contract for the development of the CTA/PTA dryer for Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber’s 1 million tons/year PTA project. This project employs China's independently developed process technology, and the supporting CTA/PTA dryer is the largest steam tube rotary dryer developed domestically. The dryer is scheduled for delivery and installation in March 2009. The coking coal moisture control technology aims to improve coal quality and reduce consumption by lowering the moisture content of coal entering the furnace from 10% to 6%, thereby decreasing heat loss in coke ovens and enhancing coke quality. The National Drying Center's steam drying technology utilizes low-pressure steam from dry quenching as a heat source, employing an efficient steam pipe rotary dryer for indirect heat exchange with wet coal, along with a dust recycling system. This technology has been widely adopted in domestic coke oven coal moisture control devices at companies such as Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Shanxi Huijin Stainless Steel Co., Ltd., and Panzhihua Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., due to its energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and economically beneficial performance. In January 2008, the 330 tons/hour coal moisture conditioning system project at Baoshan Iron and Steel Group entered on-site installation and construction. The main drying equipment is expected to be operational by August 2008, potentially reducing coke oven fuel consumption by 2–3 kg/ton after commissioning. The 400 tons/hour coal moisture control device at Shanxi Huijin Stainless Steel is currently in the assembly phase, with plans for on-site installation and commissioning in March 2008. Taiyuan Iron and Steel Company implemented this technology in its coal moisture control system, expecting a 30% reduction in coke oven fuel use and a 30–40% decrease in coking wastewater. Additionally, the 350 tons/hour humidity control device for Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co.'s coking furnace renovation project is in the design stage, with the main dryer expected to be installed by October 2008.
