Outdoor Grilling with the A-Series

The PGS "A" (Aluminum) Series of grills are built to last and perform. Crafted from a mix of durable permanent mold aluminum, commercial-grade stainless steel, brass, and porcelain-coated steel components, these grills offer both durability and an attractive appearance. The A-Series is the result of over 40 years of experience in outdoor cooking, designed to deliver top-notch performance for all your grilling needs.

The A-Series comes in two sizes—the A-30 and A-40—each offering a wide range of mounting options and accessories. Whether you prefer a permanent installation or a mobile setup, these grills can be used with either natural gas or liquid propane, giving you flexibility based on your lifestyle and location.

Choosing the Right Location

Designed for outdoor use, the A-Series grills must never be operated indoors. Gas appliances produce carbon monoxide, which can be dangerous if not properly ventilated. Never use your A-Series grill inside your home, garage, RV, boat, or any enclosed space.

When setting up your grill, make sure it's at least 30 inches away from any flammable materials and placed in an area with low foot traffic. This helps prevent accidents and ensures safe operation during use.

Lighting Your Grill Safely

Before lighting your grill, always check the gas hose for damage. If there’s excessive wear, cuts, or leaks, replace the hose before using the grill. Open the lid fully before lighting to prevent gas buildup, which could lead to flare-ups.

  1. Never stand directly above the grill when lighting it.
  2. Open the lid and inspect the interior to ensure everything looks normal.
  3. Turn all control knobs to the OFF position. Any knob can be used to light the grill.
  4. Turn the gas on at the tank or supply. Turn one knob to Medium and press the ignitor button. You should hear a clicking sound, and one burner should ignite within four seconds. Then turn the other knob to HI, and the second burner will light automatically.

Once lit, check that the flames are even and appropriate. It's a good idea to watch the grill for two minutes after lighting to catch any small leaks or spider fires early.

Grilling Tips for Best Results

  1. When using your A-Series for the first time, light both burners on HI for 10–15 minutes to burn off any manufacturing oils. Before turning it on, lightly coat the cooking grids with vegetable oil or a spray oil for better performance.
  2. There’s no need to burn the unit after each use. Doing so may cause unnecessary wear. Instead, preheat your grill for 5–8 minutes before each use to burn off grease and residue. After cooking, let the grids cool slightly and then gently scrub them with a nylon pad to remove stuck-on food.

Remember to lightly oil the cooking grids before each use to keep them in top condition and prevent sticking.

You can clean your stainless steel grids with a brass wire brush, but always rinse them thoroughly before using again. Never place cooking grids, rock grates, or rocks in self-cleaning ovens.

Safety First with the A-Series

At AEI, we prioritize your safety and enjoyment. Natural gas and propane are both safe when used correctly. Never use natural gas in a propane-only grill or vice versa. Also, never connect an unregulated propane cylinder or natural gas line to your grill, as this can be extremely dangerous.

If your grill valves are accidentally left on, and you open the tank valve, the excess flow device will shut off the gas. In that case, turn the grill valves OFF, then the tank valve. Wait two minutes, then open the tank valve first before turning the grill back on. Always follow this order to avoid gas buildup and potential hazards.
