Vintage Chicago Cadillac ambulance

This is from Rick Moravecek. I recently came across an amazing photo of a Chicago Fire Department ambulance from the 1970s, specifically a 1970 Cadillac ambulance, which was spotted at the Svengoolie Hearse Club show in Lombard. It's incredible to see how well-preserved it is—everything inside is still original, right down to the equipment and fittings. It really takes me back to the old days of EMS, when things were simpler but no less essential. The ambulance was on display and looked like it had just rolled off the lot. The attention to detail is remarkable, and it’s clear that this vehicle has a special place in fire department history. Seeing it in person must have been a real treat for anyone who loves vintage emergency vehicles. Here are some photos I found from the event. They give a great sense of what the ambulance looked like both outside and inside. You can almost imagine the sirens blaring and the rush of an emergency call.
