Top 1000 Chinese Automobile Manufacturers
On June 2nd in Beijing, the National Bureau of Statistics and the Bureau of Industry and Communications released the list of China's Top 1000 Enterprises for 2003. Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd. secured the top position with sales reaching 85.524 billion yuan. FAW Group Corporation followed closely with 53.262 billion yuan, while Shanghai Volkswagen came in third with 52.416 billion yuan. FAW-Volkswagen ranked fourth with 48.973 billion yuan in sales.
The ranking was based on annual sales, following international standards, and included data on revenue, profits, and total assets. The results were published in the June issue of "Magazine." According to the statistics, the Top 1000 enterprises accounted for just 0.5% of all large-scale industrial companies in China, yet they generated 526.86 billion yuan in sales—representing 36.8% of the total industry sales. Their combined assets reached 571.018 billion yuan, or 33.8% of the industry’s total, and they achieved profits of 417.36 billion yuan, which was nearly half of the entire sector’s profits.
