Jiangnan Shipyard will build two new "Yuanwang" space survey vessels

According to the official website of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), a new-generation aerospace survey ship, independently developed and designed by China, has recently been completed at Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. In addition, a contract was signed on the same day for the design and construction of another advanced aerospace survey vessel. Both ships were designed by CSSC's 708 Research Institute and will be built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding. Nie Chenggen and Tan Zuojun, deputy general managers of CSSC, were present at the launch ceremony and the signing event. This marks an important step forward in China’s space tracking and support capabilities. To ensure the timely completion of the maintenance and repair work for the "Yuanwang 1" and "Yuanwang 2" vessels, Jiangnan Shipbuilding implemented strict project management. Since the two ships entered the factory on February 7, the three shipbuilding departments adhered to the "three firsts" and "four in place" standards set during the production mobilization meeting. They carefully organized the work and executed the plan with precision, starting the dual-ship maintenance project efficiently. Through a week of continuous effort, under the unified coordination of the ship inspectors and close cooperation between the teams, workers from various sections such as military clamps, copper works, shipbuilding, and armor completed the project in the shortest possible time. During the repairs, the production plan was strictly followed, roles were clearly defined, and the disassembly and repair processes were carried out in a coordinated and orderly manner—from cabin inspections to deck work and workshop operations, creating a seamless production flow. As of now, most of the mechanical components on the second ship, including pumps, piping, valves, and motors, have been repaired in the workshop according to schedule. The "Yuanwang 1" vessel has already entered Dock No. 2 at noon on February 14, following the planned timeline. While focusing on their own tasks, the three shipbuilding departments also demonstrated strong teamwork spirit. They actively collaborated with sister units like the Shanghai Roller Machine Factory, Nanjing Roller Machine Factory, and Shanghai Boiler Factory, providing favorable conditions for work and production. Together, they are working to complete the Yuanwang maintenance projects, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming mooring tests of the main and auxiliary machinery after docking.
