Jiangnan Shipyard will build two new "Yuanwang" space survey vessels

According to the official website of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), a new-generation aerospace survey ship, independently developed and designed by China, has recently been completed at Jiangnan Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. In addition, a contract was signed on the same day for the construction of another advanced aerospace survey vessel. Both ships were designed by CSSC's 708 Research Institute and will be built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding. Nie Chenggen and Tan Zuojun, deputy general managers of CSSC, attended the ceremony marking the start of the project and the signing of the contract. This event highlights the ongoing efforts of China’s maritime industry in enhancing its space tracking capabilities. To ensure the timely repair and maintenance of the "Yuanwang 1" and "Yuanwang 2" vessels, Jiangnan Shipbuilding implemented strict scheduling and coordination measures. Since the two ships entered the factory on February 7, all departments followed the “three firsts” and “four in place” guidelines established during the production mobilization meeting. This approach allowed for meticulous planning and efficient execution of the two-ship repair project. Over the course of one week, under the unified leadership of the ship inspectors and close collaboration between the ship crews, workers from various sections—such as military clamps, copper work, shipbuilding, and armor—successfully completed the project in record time. During the repairs, the team strictly adhered to the production schedule, clearly defined roles, and ensured smooth coordination in disassembly and repair processes. From cabin inspections to deck and workshop operations, the entire process was well-organized, with seamless integration across different stages. As of now, most of the mechanical components on the second ship, including pumps, pipes, valves, and motors, have been repaired in the workshop according to the planned timeline. The "Yuanwang 1" vessel has already moved into Dock No. 2 at noon on February 14, following the scheduled production milestones. In addition to their own responsibilities, the three shipbuilding departments demonstrated strong teamwork and actively collaborated with partner units such as the Shanghai Roller Machine Factory, Nanjing Roller Machine Factory, and Shanghai Boiler Factory. They provided favorable conditions for work and production, contributing to the successful repair of the Yuanwang vessels. This effort laid a solid foundation for the upcoming mooring tests of the main and auxiliary machinery after the docking phase.
