The end of the Beijing International Auto Show on the 16th is the end and the prelude
The Grand Beijing Auto Show has left a lasting impression on the public's mind, while the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show for next year has already begun to generate excitement worldwide. From north to south, the auto show has continuously paved the way for China’s automotive industry, opening new paths for development. As the curtain rises and falls, it reflects the journey of cars becoming a common part of everyday life in China. From Greater China to the global stage, the event has witnessed the shifting center of gravity in the world’s automotive manufacturing landscape.
Highlights such as renowned car brands, bustling information exchanges, dazzling car displays, and the gathering of top global automakers have all contributed to the success of the event. The auto show not only showcases the achievements of the industry but also serves as a platform for innovation and growth. As the goddess of the automobile remains pure, her presence continues to inspire anticipation for the next China Auto Show. With major global car giants preparing to gather once again, the big screen will light up once more, promising unforgettable moments ahead.
In 2005, the Shanghai International Auto Show marked a significant milestone, following the first Beijing Auto Show in Asia. Just after the 2004 Beijing Auto Show, the 2005 Shanghai Auto Show announced its plans. On June 11, the organizers held a press conference at the Great Wall Hotel in Beijing, officially confirming that the 11th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition would take place from April 22 to 28, 2005, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This edition aimed to set new records, striving to become a world-class event in Asia.
With an exhibition area of 120,000 square meters—50% larger than previous shows—the event expanded into seven new indoor halls and outdoor spaces. Major international automakers, including multinational groups, showed great interest, with some investing as much as they would for the world’s top auto shows. Domestic manufacturers also played a key role, using the event as their primary platform for promotion.
To enhance visitor experience, the organizers introduced several service improvements. April 22 was designated as media day, followed by professional visitors on April 23-24, and the general public from April 25-28. Outdoor exhibitors were given advanced booths and improved facilities to ensure visibility and effectiveness.
Meanwhile, SAIC Motor established its northern base at the Beijing Auto Show, marking a strategic move to expand its influence. General Motors also announced a $3 billion investment over three years in partnership with SAIC, focusing on R&D, new products, and financial services. Volkswagen secured the title of official automotive partner for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, reinforcing its position in the Chinese market.
As the auto show continues to evolve, it remains a vital platform for showcasing innovation, fostering partnerships, and shaping the future of the automotive industry. Each edition brings new energy, setting the stage for even greater achievements in the years to come.
