Shenzhen Harbor Introduces Life Detector to Prevent Smuggling

A few days ago, Shekou Container Terminal took full measures in the safety and security of Shenzhen Port. According to the relevant person in charge of the terminal, the terminal used the latest port security facilities for the first time simultaneously with the New York Harbor in the United States last year. Two sophisticated life detectors were formally placed at the dock gate, and all inbound container trucks must pass through them. Monitoring to effectively prevent terrorist and smuggling incidents.

Shenzhen Port was previously included in the "Container Security Agreement" (CSI) by the United States. This is a new measure taken by the United States to ensure the safety of incoming containers. According to the agreement, the United States has implemented excellent inspection of containers from the CSI-compliant ports, and the time for customs clearance of goods in the United States can be significantly shortened. Shekou Container Terminal has taken the lead in importing the first two DKL life detectors from the United States for the inspection of incoming containers to strengthen security measures at the port. This is the first case in China.

According to reports, the life detector is currently the most advanced search and rescue and detection instrument in the world. It mainly finds the “living” position by sensing the electric field (generated by the heart) generated by ultra-low-frequency waves emitted by the human body. According to experts, the ultra-low frequency electric field emitted by the human body can penetrate reinforced concrete walls, steel plates, planks, and even water. Therefore, as long as people live, whether they are awake, unconscious, trapped in rubble, or hiding in containers, they can use their lives. The detector found him in the shortest possible time.

According to Wang Yijun, director of safety and security at Shekou Container Terminal, the cost of the life monitor introduced at Shekou Container Terminal was more than HK$300,000 each. The person in charge of the terminal said that as the number of berths in the terminal increases, more life detectors may be purchased to strengthen the terminal security.

At the entrance gate of Shekou Container Terminal, we can see that the life detector is light and compact and looks exactly like a pistol. The staff took out the antenna of the detector and held it in the hand, and tested the container trucks entering the terminal one by one. According to the staff, if there are people in the container, the parameters appearing on the detector will remind the user that the operation is very simple.
