In-car air quality evaluation system

The Guidelines for the Evaluation of Air Quality in Passenger Cars will be formally implemented on March 1 this year. This regulation is only a guide for the environment in the vehicle and is not a mandatory standard.

In the passenger car air pollution rights protection, consumers finally have a basis. Recently, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China jointly issued the "Guidance on Air Quality Assessment for Passenger Vehicles" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines") and will be formally implemented on March 1 this year. This is the first time that China has issued relevant standards on air quality in passenger cars.

The "Guide" stipulates the concentration requirements of benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, styrene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein in the air in vehicles, and is mainly applicable to the sales of new production automobiles. Vehicles in use can also refer to the use of vehicles. . According to relevant inspections organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the detection rate of benzene, toluene, xylene, styrene, ethylbenzene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein in the air in vehicles is as high as 98%, and these substances are healthy to consumers. It will pose a great threat. For specific sampling, under the environmental conditions stipulated in the “Method for Sampling Volatile Organic Compounds and Aldehydes and Ketones in Vehicles”, the vehicle under inspection must be in a static state. At this time, the doors, windows, and air intake vents of the crew compartment are all closed, and the engine and air conditioning equipment are not working. Although China's air quality standards for cars have been referenced to relevant foreign standards, it is still less stringent than the EU, North America, and other standards.

Industry insiders said that because the regulations are only a guide to the environment in the vehicle, not a mandatory standard, coupled with the complexity of the air quality inspection conditions in the car, it is difficult to predict how much the “Guide” will work.
