National pickup sales announced the Great Wall still ranked first

According to the latest data from the National Pickup Truck Market Data and Information Federation, 11 registered pickup truck manufacturers saw sales of over 118,400 units in 2005 (excluding SUVs), marking a 36.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Great Wall was the top seller with 36,000 units, followed by Jiangling with 22,000. However, several unregistered companies such as Shuguang, Wanfeng, Xinkai, Tianma, Dadi, and Panthers also contributed significantly to the market. After two major mergers, these companies collectively sold around 126,000 pure pickup trucks annually. Industry experts note that the growth rate for pickup trucks in 2005 was nearly 30 percentage points higher than in 2004. This surge can be attributed to several factors. Despite rising fuel prices, consumer interest in small-displacement vehicles remained strong. However, for business owners and commercial users, pickup trucks remain a versatile option that combines passenger and cargo capacity, making them irreplaceable by smaller cars. The introduction of diesel models has also played a key role, as they offer lower operating costs and greater efficiency. Additionally, new brands like Great Wall Chai Shen, Gio, Dongfeng, and Beiqi have entered the market, bringing more choices and driving competition. With continuous marketing efforts and product innovation, the pickup truck sector is experiencing robust growth and expanding its market share across different user segments.
