The 12,000 DWT bulk carrier "Fu Xun," built by Jiangxi Jiangzhou United Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., recently returned to Shanghai and successfully completed its delivery with the German shipping company Brugol. The vessel has now been registered with the German Lloyd’s Register, marking a significant milestone in its operational journey.
The "Fu Xun" arrived in Shanghai on August 16 for sea trials. Following a series of trial runs along the Yangtze River, it reached Chengxi Shipyard in Jiangsu on August 18 to address navigation issues identified during the river voyage and to meet the requirements set by both the shipowners and classification societies. The sea trial officially began on August 28, and after passing all system tests, the ship was approved by the shipowner and surveyors.
With a total length of 138.07 meters, a beam of 21 meters, and a depth of 11 meters, the "Fu Xun" is designed for a draft of 7.50 meters and can carry up to 12,850 tons of cargo. It is equipped to handle a wide range of bulk cargoes, including containers, ore, coal, grain, iron ore, bauxite, salt, and cement, both in the holds and on the deck. The ship is also capable of transporting heavy steel, steel coils, engineering equipment, forestry products, consolidated cargo, and dangerous goods up to Class 8, in accordance with IMO regulations (SOLAS II-2/54).
Designed for global operations, the "Fu Xun" features a bulbous bow, a square semi-balanced rudder, and a continuously adjustable pitch propeller system. The ship is equipped with an x-ray system and an upper deck that spans the entire length of the vessel. The cargo area consists of two double-bottom and double-sided cargo tanks, separated by box bulkheads. The structure includes transverse framing in key areas such as the bow, double bottom, and side compartments, while the rest of the hull follows a vertical frame design.
The "Fu Xun" is the fifth vessel in the 12,000 DWT series produced by Jiang Shipbuilding, showcasing the company's growing expertise in building high-quality, versatile bulk carriers tailored to international shipping needs.
