Foton Carries Weichai Europe to Launch New Car China Heavy Trucks Shock World
On September 5, in Berlin time, Foton Motors, in collaboration with Weichai Power, officially unveiled the Auman ETX at the Museum of Transportation Technology in Schierheim, Germany. The event attracted over 200 attendees, including local officials such as Mayor Werner Schbaart, representatives from the International Automobile Association, embassy staff from China, German media outlets, and journalists from domestic Chinese media. Notably, representatives from renowned companies like German BOSCH and Austrian AVL were also present, underscoring the significance of this launch.
As the first commercial vehicle introduced to the German market, the Auman ETX was honored by the Schabel Museum of Science and Technology, which recognized it as a milestone in global transportation history. It became the first Chinese product to be added to the museum’s permanent collection, marking a historic moment for China’s automotive industry. This recognition highlights the growing international acknowledgment of China’s advancements in heavy truck manufacturing and its commitment to innovation.
During an interview with reporters, Wang Jinyu, General Manager of Foton Motors, expressed strong confidence in the international potential of the Auman ETX. He revealed that 70% of the model will be exported in the coming years, aiming to establish itself as a strong brand on the global stage within 3–5 years. This strategy reflects not only a business move but also a national responsibility to showcase Chinese engineering excellence.
Industry experts believe that this launch marks a significant step for Chinese automakers entering the European market. With its advanced technology and compliance with international standards, the Auman ETX is expected to challenge existing players, potentially reshaping the global heavy truck market landscape. The Auman ETX is the result of a strategic alliance known as the “Three Nations, Four Parties†partnership. Since this year, the four entities have worked together to integrate cutting-edge technologies and develop a powerful, energy-efficient power system. The cooperation includes setting up a joint R&D center in Beijing, leveraging global resources from Europe and Japan.
With features such as high safety, torque, and energy efficiency, the Auman ETX stands out. It incorporates 16 world-leading technologies, including eight enhanced chassis designs tailored for international logistics needs. The engine, developed through a collaboration between Weichai and AVL, meets Euro III emission standards and offers improved fuel efficiency and reliability.
Museum director Hermann expressed excitement about the inclusion of the Auman ETX in the collection, comparing it to the historical “Progress†steam locomotive.
