Japan’s Mitsubishi Rayon and South Korea’s Hunan Petrochemical Company recently stated that the two companies’ Dashan MMA joint venture in Dashan decided to expand the production capacity of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer and acrylic resin pellets in Korea. It is reported that Dashan MMA's MMA monomer production capacity in Lishui, South Korea, will expand by 98,000 tons per year and is expected to be completed by January 2013. At that time, its MMA monomer production capacity in Lishui will reach 188,000 tons per year; the acrylic acid located in Lishui Resin pellet production capacity will expand by 60,000 tons/year, and it is expected to be completed in November 2012. At that time, the production capacity will reach 110,000 tons/year. Dashan MMA JV was established in 2006 and mainly produces and sells MMA, acrylic resin beads and methacrylic acid monomers.
