2-Alarm house fire in Harvey, 1-22-15

Yesterday afternoon (January 22, 2015), Harvey firefighters responded to a second-alarm fire at a residence located at 192 East 157th Street. The images below, captured by Josh Boyajian and Tim Olk, provide a glimpse into the intense situation. According to Josh Boyajian, who was on the scene, they were coming from Merrionette Park and it took them a bit longer to arrive. Upon arrival, Harvey firefighters were already active on the first floor, but significant fire was still raging on the second level. Despite the challenges posed by the house's construction, crews managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to the neighboring house to the east. Josh shared that it was a tough fight, but their efforts paid off in keeping the damage localized. For those interested in more photos, Josh has a full gallery available on his website. The first set of photos by Josh Boyajian captures the fire engine arriving at the scene, followed by shots of the house fully engulfed in flames. There’s also an image of a firefighter carrying a dog to safety, showcasing the bravery and quick thinking of the first responders. Meanwhile, Tim Olk’s contributions include multiple perspectives of the fire scene, highlighting the intensity of the smoke and the coordinated efforts of the fire chiefs supervising the operation. The final set of photos provides a broader view of the fire trucks on site, emphasizing the scale of the emergency response. It’s always heartening to see how communities come together during such crises, with firefighters putting themselves at risk to protect others. Stay safe, everyone!
