Working fire in Chicago, 1-31-22
Last night was quite an eventful evening for Battalion 19 in Chicago. They received a call about an active fire at 5845 South Carpenter Street. Engine 116 was one of the first units to arrive on the scene. When they got there, they found a two-story red and grey stone building engulfed in heavy flames on the second floor. Engine 116 immediately deployed their deck gun upon arrival. They also set up two 2.5-inch hoses alongside other responding engines, including Engine 84 and Engine 50.
Initially, the crews took a defensive approach to contain the fire. However, after getting the situation under control, they decided to go inside to extinguish any remaining hotspots. As luck would have it, we were just down 59th Street when the incident occurred. We managed to capture some incredible photos of the firefighting efforts.
