Study on treatment of chromium-containing wastewater by nitric acid oxidation modified activated carbon

Electroplating wastewater containing Cr seriously pollutes the environment, and it is treated with modified activated carbon. The effect is obvious. Activated carbon is oxidized by HNO3 (1:1) and calcined at a temperature of about 300 °C, which has a high cation exchange capacity. The cation exchange capacity reaches 1.88mmol/g. The modified activated carbon is used as the adsorbent material to treat the chromium- containing wastewater in the chrome- plating plant under normal temperature conditions, and has high reducibility and adsorption under acidic conditions, and CrO2- can be used in the wastewater. The Cr(VI) ions in the form of 4 and Cr2O2-7 are completely reduced to Cr3+, and the higher Cr(VI) ion removal rate is obtained. The pH value and adsorption time of the solution are used for Cr(VI) ions in the wastewater. The effect of removal rate was discussed. The results showed that when the pH value of the solution was 2.5-3.0 and the adsorption time was 3~4 h, the removal rate of Cr(VI) ions in wastewater could reach 97.5%.

water filter removes impurities by lowering contamination of water using a fine physical barrier, a chemical process, or a biological process. Filters cleanse water to different extents for purposes such as providing agricultural irrigation, accessible drinking water, public and private aquariums, and the safe use of ponds and swimming pools.
