PCBWay Plug-In for KiCad

Send your design to PCBWay and get it produced in seconds with just one click.

Ever wondered if, once you finish your KiCad project, you could place an order on PCBWay with just a single click? Well, that's now a reality—and it's not a joke.

Thanks to the new PCBWay plugin for KiCad, you can now upload your files directly from the software. All you need to do is click the "PCBWay Plugin" button, and we'll automatically export all necessary files for production.

Please make sure you have installed the latest version of the plugin (released July 11, 2024) to ensure everything works smoothly.

Here’s what the plugin will generate:

• Gerber files in the correct format for manufacturing
• IPC-Netlist file
• BOM file containing all component details
• Pick and Place file for assembly

Once the files are uploaded, simply click "Save to Cart" to place your order instantly—usually within a few seconds. Our team will review the files before starting production to ensure quality and accuracy.

Note: The plugin has been updated for KiCad 8, allowing you to place direct assembly orders. However, we need the "Manufacture Part Number" of each component. Make sure you run "Update Board from Schematic" and install the latest plugin version.

Install via Official KiCad Repositories

To install the plugin, open the "Plugin and Content Manager" from the main KiCad menu and select "PCBWay Plug-in for KiCad" from the list.

Manual Installation

If you prefer, download the latest ZIP file from https://github.com/pcbway/PCBWay-Plug-in-for-Kicad, then go to the "Plugin and Content Manager" in KiCad and install it via "Install from File".

About BOM Files

We can extract all component information from your design, provided you have the latest plugin installed. To speed up the quoting process, please include these key details:

• Designator (required)
• Quantity (required)
• MPN/Part Number (required)
• Package/Footprint (required)
• Manufacturer (optional)
• Description/Value (optional)

Just add these properties to your schematic as shown in the image below:
