LED Gear Tray Buyer’s Guide
When searching for a lighting solution, customers often ponder the various options available, and we frequently suggest LED Gear Trays. These trays provide a practical way to install lights in smaller spaces like homes and narrow hallways, as well as commercial settings such as factories, parking lots, office buildings, and more.
LED Gear Trays are incredibly easy to maintain and replace because they're usually modular, and unlike traditional fluorescent bulbs, they don't degrade over time. They're also an excellent choice for conserving energy, even though their initial cost might be slightly higher than other lighting solutions.
You might be wondering which type of Gear Tray suits your requirements and what factors to consider when purchasing one. In this article, we'll cover everything you need to know to make an informed decision. Keep reading to discover which Gear Tray is perfect for you!
### LED Gear Tray Wattage
Not all LED Gear Trays are alike. Depending on your needs, you may prefer one with more or less wattage. We offer LED Gear Trays ranging from 8-15 Watts with numerous features, which should suffice for most applications.
Models like our 8W Standard LED Gear Tray are perfect for smaller spaces, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and corridors. Meanwhile, higher-wattage LED Gear Trays, like our 15W LED Gear Tray with a sensor and emergency power, are ideal for large warehouses, commercial buildings, offices, and more.
In general, LED Gear Tray wattage is usually double that of regular fluorescent bulbs. For industrial uses and larger areas, we recommend lights with higher wattages, such as 150 or 200 Watts.
Our new EcoBrite 200 Watt IP65 LED low bay fitting is an excellent choice for such purposes, providing a return on investment in as little as six months.
### LED Gear Tray Types
LED Gear Trays come in different varieties, each with its own features based on the customer's needs. We offer a wide range of them, including the four most common types:
- **Standard:** The most common type of LED Gear Tray, consisting of LEDs and an LED driver.
- **Emergency:** Similar to the Standard but includes a Ni-Cd battery and a charging or change-over unit that can operate for up to 3-4 hours without electricity. Once power is restored, the battery recharges automatically, requiring no maintenance. In Emergency mode, these Gear Trays usually produce fewer Lumens than their maximum rating.
- **Sensor:** Equipped with an integrated Microwave sensor, these Gear Trays also feature a corridor function that allows dimming from 10-100% brightness, depending on customer preferences. They can also be set to turn off completely and only activate at full power when motion is detected, leading to significant energy savings.
- **Emergency and Sensor:** Typically the priciest option as it combines both sensor and emergency features in one LED Gear Tray.
Our 15W LED sensor & 3hr Emergency Gear Tray is ideal for customers who desire dimming capabilities and the ability to keep the lights on during a power outage. It has an equivalent fluorescent wattage of 28 watts, a maximum 1700lm Lumen output, selectable color temperatures (3000K, 4500K, 6000K), and a diameter of just 244mm.
### Other Alternatives
In cases where LED Gear Trays aren't sufficient and higher wattage is required for more intense lighting, we recommend our Low Bay Lights ranging from 100-200W. The 200W version measures 280mm x 188mm, has an equivalent HID wattage of 400W, a Lumen output of 30,000lm, and an estimated lifetime of 50,000 hours.
For residential and smaller spaces, there are also LED Panel Lights, which have a sleek, flat design available in both square and rectangular shapes. Models like the EcoBrite 40-Watt 600mm x 600mm LED Panel light fitting are perfect for offices, schools, shops, and any space with a 600×600 suspended ceiling grid.
This Panel light fitting is available in 4000K, 5000K, and 6000K color temperatures, has a beam angle of 120 degrees, a Lumen output of 4000lm, an estimated lifespan of >50,000 hours, and requires ZERO maintenance. Additionally, there are variants equipped with 3-hour emergency backups that can be useful during storms or power outages.
### Pricing
LED Gear Trays vary in price, becoming more expensive with higher wattage and additional features. Our 8W Standard Gear Trays are our most affordable option, while our most costly one is the 15W model with Emergency and sensor features.
When considering purchasing an LED Gear Tray, the upfront cost might deter you; however, it's essential to recognize that although initially more expensive than fluorescent bulbs, the ongoing replacement costs and overall power consumption of the latter can quickly add up.
In the long term, LED Gear Trays—and LED lights in general—are cheaper to own and operate.
