Firefighter Eric Kositzki said the blaze started just after midnight and wasn’t fully extinguished until around 4:30 a.m. The house was completely lost, according to officials. Battalion Chief Eric Montanello said the cause is still under investigation, but there’s no indication of foul play. He estimates the damage to be at least $1 million, though it may take a few days to determine the exact cost. The fire took over an hour to bring under control, with the roof and second floor fully engulfed. Officials are continuing their investigation into the origin of the fire. According to Lake County records, the home was valued at approximately $1.9 million and sold for more than $2 million in 2008.
