Evergreen Park added to the site
The Evergreen Park Fire Department in MABAS Division 21 has recently been added to our site. Located at 9000 S. Kedzie Avenue, this department is home to an impressive fleet of vehicles. Matt Schumann generously provided us with the images and additional details about the department, which I’ve included below:
- The village was officially established in 1893, but the fire department came into existence through an ordinance passed in 1926.
- They provide daily protection for around 23,000 residents across an area covering 3.2 square miles.
- Dispatch operations are managed by Oak Lawn Central Dispatch using the frequency 155.55 Mhz.
- Their leadership includes one full-time chief, one part-time deputy chief, and a volunteer roster of roughly 100 personnel.
- The department holds an ISO rating of Class 3.
- Each shift consists of 10 personnel, including a battalion chief, an engine crew, an ambulance team, and a truck company, ensuring round-the-clock coverage.
- They have mutual aid agreements with both the Village of Oak Lawn and Hometown FPD.
- The village shares borders with the City of Chicago to the north, east, and south, while Hometown and Oak Lawn lie to the west.
I’ve also attached some photos of the station and equipment. The first image shows the Evergreen Park Fire Station located at 9000 S. Kedzie Avenue, captured by Matt Schumann. Another photo highlights their Snorkel Squad 3, which was originally from Wilmette. This vehicle, now painted in Evergreen Park’s colors, features a 1,250-gallon-per-minute pump and carries 300 gallons of water. The final picture is of a Seagrave Snorkel from Wilmette, shared by Larry Shapiro.
It's always fascinating to learn more about these departments and how they serve their communities. If you have any updates or corrections, feel free to reach out!
