Berwyn 2-11 alarm fire at 28th and Ridgeland

Saturday, April 23, 2011, 5:30 PM: The Berwyn Fire Department is actively responding to a severe 2-11 alarm fire at the intersection of 28th and Ridgeland in a three-story apartment complex. This fire has been raging for approximately an hour now and has already spread to the roof of the building. Firefighters have been ordered to evacuate the structure due to the intensity of the blaze, and the operation has shifted to a defensive strategy. Currently, multiple ladder pipes are being utilized as the fire continues to burn fiercely. I’m here live with Josh Boyajian, who’s on the scene capturing these dramatic moments. He’s sent over some incredible photos that give us a front-row seat to the chaos unfolding.
