Autodesk and Siemens Sign Agreement to Increase Software Interoperability
**Public Company Information:**
NASDAQ: ADSK
**SAN FRANCISCO & PLANO, Texas – (BUSINESS WIRE)** – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) and Siemens have joined forces to announce a significant interoperability agreement designed to help manufacturers reduce costs related to incompatible product development software and avoid potential data integrity issues. Through this collaboration, both companies’ product lifecycle management (PLM) software divisions will focus on improving the compatibility between their respective offerings. The deal unites two of the largest players in computer-aided design (CAD) software with the shared goal of simplifying data exchange and cutting expenses in multi-CAD environments.
Modern manufacturers face mounting pressure to bring high-quality products to market quickly while maintaining efficiency and affordability for consumers. Many businesses operate in settings where multiple CAD solutions from different vendors coexist—both internally within departments and externally with partners and supply chains. As a result, CAD software interoperability has become a crucial concern for design and engineering software users, presenting a formidable challenge for manufacturers.
This new agreement seeks to minimize the typical efforts and costs associated with managing such diverse environments. Specifically, the interoperability between Siemens' and Autodesk's offerings will enhance scenarios where their software is already in use together. According to the agreement, both parties will share toolkit technologies and exchange end-user software applications to create and promote interoperable products.
"Interoperability remains a pressing issue across the manufacturing sector, and Autodesk has consistently worked toward fostering an increasingly open ecosystem across our platforms," said Lisa Campbell, Vice President of Manufacturing Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk. "Our customers often rely on a mix of tools in their workflows, so giving them the flexibility to accomplish their tasks efficiently is our highest priority."
"Compatibility issues among CAD systems have long posed a challenge for manufacturers globally, driving up costs for everything from automobiles to smartphones," stated Dr. Stefan Jockusch, Vice President of Strategy at Siemens PLM Software. "Siemens has been a pioneer in addressing this problem through a range of open software solutions that dramatically improve interoperability. This partnership represents another meaningful step in our commitment to promoting openness and reducing costs for the global manufacturing industry by encouraging collaboration throughout extended enterprise networks."
