Here’s what we know so far based on reports from the Chicago Tribune:
A tragic fire occurred early Saturday morning around 8:45 AM in the upper floors of a large three-story brick apartment complex located at 4820 West Hutchinson Street. Initial emergency calls were received from 4320 N. Cicero Avenue, leading to a rapid response and escalation to a second-alarm status due to its severity. Tragically, one individual was found inside the affected apartment, sustaining critical injuries before being transported to Community First Medical Center, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Additional details come via Eric Haak, who provided further context:
"The fire broke out in a third-floor apartment within a U-shaped courtyard structure. It quickly spread to the cockloft area, prompting an urgent call for additional resources. Despite valiant efforts by firefighters, there was indeed a fatality associated with this incident. The initial alarm was raised just before 9:00 AM today."
