Hankook Tire to invest 400 million U.S. dollars to expand its Hungarian factory

Hankook Tire announced that it will spend 313 million Euros (about 400 million U.S. dollars) to expand its tire plant in Rácalmás, Hungary, and plans to increase the capacity of the plant to 17 million bar/year and create 950 new ones. Employment.

The investment project is the third phase of the expansion of the Hankook Tire Rácalmás plant. Upon completion, the total funds invested by Hankook Tire to the plant will reach 880 million euros (approximately US$1.14 billion). The expansion project will begin in June of this year. Since its start-up in 2007, the tire production at the Rácalmás plant has been steadily increasing. Its production capacity reached 6 million pieces/year in 2011, and it increased to 9 million pieces/year and 12 million pieces/year by 2011 and 2012 respectively. .

The Rácalmás plant currently produces different types of tires for cars, SUVs and light trucks. Most of the production capacity is used to produce passenger car radial tires, and the output of ultra-high performance tires is also increasing. Hankook Tire supplies directly to customers such as Volkswagen Group and Hyundai-Kia Group at its Rácalmás factory in Europe.
