China's modern world's second largest market

The ongoing Expo Yeosu Korea has become yet another window for Hyundai Motor Group to demonstrate its world-class corporate image. Hyundai Motor Group has spent more than 40 years to complete the century-long road of Western auto powers. The Nanfang Daily reporter recently visited Hyundai Motor Headquarters and learned that in 2011 Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. had secured the status of the world’s fifth-largest automotive brand with sales of 6.6 million vehicles, and this year it will also impact the sales target of 7 million vehicles.

Among them, this year's Hyundai-Kia Group is expected to achieve sales of approximately 1.32 million vehicles in China, second only to GM and Volkswagen. China will also be the largest international market for Hyundai after North America.

Focusing on the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the Yeosu Expo in Korea will open on May 12 and will last for three months. Hyundai Motor Group is the first global partner of the Expo in Yeosu, and it is also the highest level sponsor in the sponsorship system. At the Yeosu Expo, Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. provided a total of 51 environmentally friendly vehicles, including the Tucson ix/Mohave hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the Ray EV/Blue On electric vehicle, and the CNG hybrid bus, which were mainly used for the concierge service, transportation performance team at the Yeosu Expo and Organize committee related business.

Today, the car also showcases a number of global leading green building technologies such as zero-energy buildings built with hydrogen fuel cells, solar power generation, wind power generation, and non-smooth surface design for concrete exposure, and offshore floating building technology. It is worth mentioning that during the World Expo, Hyundai Motor demonstrated the first self-developed "hydrogen fuel cell power generation system" in Korea. This system is based on the automotive fuel cell technology and can be used to generate electricity for buildings. System, generating capacity up to 100kw class. Unlike Other fossil fuels, it is a truly environmentally friendly technology that does not produce carbon dioxide at all, and will be responsible for all the electricity supply of the “Korea Pavilion” during this Expo.

In South Korea, Hyundai’s first high-speed electric vehicle, Ray, was launched earlier this year, mainly for government agencies, vehicles and public services. At the same time, Hyundai will promote Tucson ix/Mohave hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Europe and North America, and will promote hundreds of vehicles in Northern Europe by 2014. Fuel cell vehicles have become an important direction for the modern group to develop new energy vehicles.

Forming a global technology R&D network and mastering core technologies has become the most important supporting force for the rapid growth of automobiles in the world. The Nanyang Institute near Seoul is the "heart" of the Hyundai Motor Group. The Nanyang Institute has occupied an area of 3.47 million square meters, and the scale of its land is very rare in the global automobile enterprises. The entire institute includes a design area, an engine and transmission area, a wind tunnel test site, a planning and design institute, and a total of 70 km of driving test roads. It employs more than 10,000 people.

According to reports, Hyundai Motor Group has formed a world-class R&D network centered on Nanyang Institute, including the U.S. Institute of Technology, the Japan Institute of Technology, the European Institute of Technology, the Indian Institute of Technology, and the China Institute of Technology. It can timely respond to the needs of local markets and overseas markets and consumers, and concentrate on developing key technologies and vehicles suitable for regional markets. Hyundai Motor Group hopes to become the leader of the global automotive market through "advanced specialized research organizations." Among them, the research organization of Hyundai Motor in China will become the latest strength component of its global R&D system.
