Therefore, it is obviously of great significance to study how to make full use of the energy carried by high-temperature liquid slag to produce high value-added products.

Steel slag, such as steelmaking water quenching slag, ironmaking water quenching slag, etc., are products of high temperature liquid slag produced from steelmaking converters and ironmaking blast furnaces discharged into water. Nangang's high-temperature liquid slag discharged from iron and steel smelting is not quenched by water, and directly heat-treated after adding appropriate admixture, and the imitation marble is successfully obtained. Since the liquid slag of 1350~1450°C is used as the main raw material, all the residual heat carried by the liquid slag is fully utilized, and thus the energy saving effect is obvious. The performance indexes of the obtained imitation marble are even better than the standards of the building materials department, and the color is beautiful, durable, and the added value is greatly improved.

Nangang uses the blast furnace slag, converter slag and electric furnace slag discharged from the company to add appropriate amount of waste glass, auxiliary agent, crystallization agent and color reagent under high temperature liquid state. After the composition is homogenized, it is poured into the square mold by large bismuth and In the vertical mold, it is annealed at 610 to 730 ° C for 1.5 to 2.5 hours, and then subjected to deep processing to obtain imitation marble. The test results of the obtained material samples show that the performance indexes of the samples are close to or better than natural marble and granite ; compared with natural marble, the color is uniform and the gloss is constant; the natural granite does not appear after rain. The color is different in depth, and the phenomenon of caustic soda is mild. Moreover, this kind of marble is non-polluting, non-radioactive, and does not cause harm to the human body. It is a green decorative material.

From the perspective of economic benefits, imitation marble production costs are low and profits are high. According to the annual calculation of 800,000 tons of steel slag from Nangang, 20 million square meters of imitation marble can be produced; according to the current market price, the profitable tax is nearly 300 million yuan; and the energy saving is 400 million kWh. Equally important, this not only makes full use of blast furnace slag and steel slag, but also solves the environmental pollution problem caused by steel slag.

According to reports, Baosteel also produces imitation marble with 70% steel slag usage according to the physical and chemical properties of different steel slags.
