Chinese passengers lead the Cuban market

The second Cuban Industrial Exhibition opened at the Cuban Exhibition Center in the capital Havana. This year's exhibition was jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry of Cuba and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. The theme was "The path of industrial sustainable development". It aims to provide a good environment for scientific and technological exchanges, promote exports and scientific cooperation between different countries and regions. More than 60 companies from 25 countries and regions, including China, participated in the show. Among the more than 10 Chinese exhibitors, Chinese new energy buses attracted attention.

“The vehicles we exhibited at this time are tailor-made for Cuba.” Hu Feng, overseas marketing director of Yutong, explained that these vehicles are suitable for the long-distance passenger transport market, tourism market, as well as local suburban short-distance passenger transport and township roads. “Cuban high-temperature, high-humidity, high-salt marine climate environment has high requirements for anti-corrosion of vehicles. We have adopted the world’s advanced frame and overall body electrophoretic coating technology to ensure the performance of the vehicle, prolong its service life, and reduce The cost of using the vehicle."

In recent years, with the improvement of production technology and production capacity, Chinese passenger cars have begun to invest their vision in the broader international market. In 2015, the export volume of Chinese buses reached more than 60,000 vehicles, and it is expected to maintain a growth rate of 10% to 20% in the next few years. In 2020, the export volume is expected to reach 120,000 vehicles. In the passenger bus ranks of China, the new energy bus has performed outstandingly and is expected to become another bright spot after the high-speed rail and nuclear power. In the process of Chinese buses going abroad, the Latin American passenger car market has become one of the important stages of Chinese passenger cars.

Since the first batch of 12 luxury coaches sold to Cuba in 2005, Yutong buses have occupied more than 90% of the Cuban passenger car market. In addition to selling vehicles, Yutong has built a central library of accessories in Cuba, which has an average safety deposit of over 5 million U.S. dollars and shortened the spare parts supply cycle. In addition, they have also built two large-scale maintenance centers and 14 service stations in Cuba, equipped with mobile service vehicles, and provide maintenance services for vehicles that have failed during operations.

"Yutong has occupied a major position in the Cuban transportation market. In particular, more than 80% of the buses in the public transportation market are Yutong vehicles, which greatly help the Cuban people's lives." said the director of the Ministry of Transport of Cuba's Ministry of Transport, Javier. "Yutong provides not only vehicle products, but also a package solution covering transportation planning, service network construction, vehicle design, and vehicle back-end monitoring systems." Yu Tong, chairman of Yutong, said.

Due to the deep cultivation of the Cuban market, Yutong buses have become Cuban “old friends”. Cuba’s famous band “Confidentials” once printed the “Yutong” name on its own album cover. A few years ago, a song “I Love Yutong” was also known to many Cubans.

From Cuba to Latin America, Yutong has established sales and service networks in more than 20 countries and regions in Latin America. As of now, its total export volume in the Latin American market exceeds 16,000 units and its cumulative export value exceeds US$1.4 billion. In 2015, Yutong exported 2,761 units in Latin America, accounting for 66.02% of the total exports of large and medium-sized passenger vehicles in China.

“Going out through the company and integrating it with the countries and regions in which it is located, and common development, the goal is to share China's outstanding companies and products, their own technologies, and their host countries. In addition to gaining profits for the company’s own development, it is within its capabilities. Next, it also contributes to the local people's livelihood and society.” Miao Wei, Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, said while visiting the Yutong booth.
