Hydrocarbyl sulfonate and hydrocarbyl sulfate

1. Alkyl sulfonates and aryl sulfonate alkyl sulfonates are a class of effective surfactants and oxidizing mineral collectors . They are characterized by a wide range of sources, easy to manufacture, and low cost, and are therefore an important class of flotation agents. The sulfonate obtained by refining petroleum is called petroleum sulfonate, which is further divided into two categories: water-soluble petroleum sulfonate and oil-soluble petroleum sulfonate. The former has a smaller molecular weight and the latter has a larger molecular weight. The petroleum sulfonate selected for the floatation is essentially a mixture of a long carbon chain alkyl sulfonate and an aryl sulfonate.
Oil-soluble sulfonates include medium molecular weight, oil soluble salts of high molecular weight oil-soluble salts, acidic flotation pulp hematite, chrome ore, kyanite, pyrochlore, garnet, and quartz from De-ironing in sand, flotation of barite in alkaline pulp. Add a 20% solution. In general, petroleum sulfonic acid has a lower harvesting power than fatty acids, but selectivity is often stronger than fatty acids. It can be used as a substitute for fatty acid collectors or mixed with fatty acid soaps to obtain better flotation effects than when used alone.
The alkyl sulfonate agents may also include sulfonated carboxylic acids (Table 1).

The most famous representatives of aryl sulfonates are sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and butyl naphthalene sulfonate. A detergent is sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate, as a mineral collector fluorite and quartz can collector; as a wetting agent soft manganese ore flotation; further flotation of pyrite from

Barite. Also used for flotation of potash mines. Dibutyl naphthalene sulfonate, Shanghai aid manufacturers name Nekal BX (English Nekal BX), as flotation agents, it has sufficient selectivity for soluble minerals, gypsum can carve water boracite Separation of potassium salt ore from flotation in stone salt.
2. Hydrocarbon-based sulfate flotation practice The long-chain alkyl sodium sulfate salt (R-OSO3Na) commonly used is sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium cetyl sulfate. Since the raw materials for the manufacture of alkyl sulfates are long chain alkanols, they are much more expensive than the corresponding alkyl sulfonates. The relevant physical properties are listed in Table 2.

Alkyl sulfates are also weak collector foaming agent, can be used in the flotation sodium nitrate, sodium sulfate, potassium chloride, potassium sulfate, fluorite, barite, phosphate, pyrochlore, goethite, Black tungsten ore, cassiterite , etc.
Since 1970 is also found cetyl sulfate plurality of fine metal sulfide mineral collector, the collector may be selectively mine brass, no collector pyrite. The dosage is ~30 g / ton.
