·China and the UK to develop electric vehicle cooperation research projects

Recently, the British Council for Engineering and Natural Sciences (EPSRC) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the joint research project on smart grid and electric vehicles approved by the joint expert review. EPSRC plans to invest 4 million pounds to fund this collaborative research, and NSFC will also provide peer-to-peer funding.
It is understood that the four cooperative research projects will be jointly led by energy scientists from China and the UK to promote the development of power grids and electric vehicles from 2013 to 2016. Including the four cooperative research projects approved, the Chinese and British research funding agencies jointly invested more than 24 million pounds to fund energy cooperation research projects. The four cooperation projects include: measurement and management of battery characteristics - the key to smart grid and electric vehicle access, automotive environmental charging (iGIVE) for smart grid access, and interface and network interaction between electric vehicles and smart grid. And the grid economy, planning and business model for electric vehicle access.
The cooperation project is of great significance. While enhancing cooperation and communication between the two countries, it will effectively promote the development of the electric vehicle industry. Professor Ding Lijian, director of the Electrical Engineering Department of the NSFC Engineering and Materials Science Department, said: "As the most important future energy platform, the smart grid Research is undoubtedly one of the most exciting hot topics in the world. We firmly believe that through this collaborative research project, researchers from China and the UK will establish long-term cooperative relationships, which will greatly promote the development of smart grids in both countries."
