Rollo wins orders for four 20-cylinder MTU8000 series engines
Recently, Rolls-Royce announced that it will supply four 20-cylinder MTU8000 series engines for the new high-speed passenger rolling ship built by the Australian Incat Tasmania shipyard.
It is reported that this passenger rolling boat will be invested by Virtu Ferries and will become the largest high-speed catamaran operating in the Mediterranean. It is 110 meters long and can carry 900 passengers and crew. It can park 167 cars in the 490-meter truck lane. .
In addition to providing four power plants with 9,100-kW power to Virtu Ferries, MTU will also supply four 8V 2000 M51A generator sets. The newly built Virtu RoPax ferry will carry a transportation mission between Malta and the European continent throughout the year, sailing from Malta to Sicily at a speed of 38 knots for a total of 90 minutes.
The ship plans to lay the keel in June this year and deliver the engine to the Incat Tasmania shipyard in the second half of 2018.
